4WD Gaming will cover all types of gaming and offer services to companies in the areas of content, talent management, esports, gamified education, game development, publishing, fantasy sports, skill-based and real-money gaming, Web3 and blockchain, among other things.
In conversation with Adgully, Sharmilee Daru, Founder, Sharmilee Daru PR and 4WD Gaming, speaks about the specialised gaming division 4WD Gaming, building a gaming Metaverse, the benefits of the AVGC promotion task force announced in the Union Budget 2022, and more.
What is the need and objective of the new specialised gaming division, 4WD Gaming?
Given the exponential growth rate predicted at $5 billion by 2025 (BCG-Sequoia India report) for mobile gaming, it is thrilling to see so many innovative companies launching their new technology and gaming brands in the Indian gaming ecosystem. These companies are instrumental to the growth and mainstreaming of the industry and we at 4WD Gaming will help in the effective delivery of their brand ethos and consolidate their position in the rapidly growing ecosystem.
This seemed like the perfect time to launch the specialised division, which brings in our expertise as pioneers in the industry, and we are excited to partner brands and deliver new experiences to fans and stakeholders, driving innovation in gaming communication.
What is 4WD vision in building the gaming Metaverse?
Once looked upon as a mere hobby or child’s play, gaming has emerged as one of the most potent industries right now. Spanning across numerous sub-sectors, gaming is now melding with other industries in a seamless way. Gamified education or the rise of esports and now its addition to the 2022 Asian games are some such instances. At 4WD, we will focus on all the sub-sectors of gaming and work towards further inclusion of it into the mainstream.
What are the brands that you look forward to tying up with for creating a better ecosystem for Gamers?
The gaming industry is widespread with multiple categories and we plan on working alongside brands from all of them. We want to work with existing as well as new entrants in this sector, from India and internationally, and help them navigate the space with our proven expertise and anchor their position in the industry.
You being a pioneer in the gaming sector’s communication and media space, what is your prediction for the gaming industry after the Budget session?
The Union Budget 2022 suggested an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) promotion task force to “recommend ways to realise” the ability to create jobs and “build domestic capacity” to fulfill the growing demand in India and around the globe.
This will prove beneficial for the sector, further validating industry potential. This will open up a lot of opportunities, enabling companies and individuals to consolidate themselves more easily while also encouraging international investments and opportunities into India.
