'AVATAR' gets Indian recognition, bags the best visual effects movie at 24FPS Awards

The science-fiction blockbuster "Avatar" won the best Visual Effects Feature Film 2010 ' International nominated by Prime Focus studios at the 7th edition of India's largest Animation Awards - 24FPS organized by Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) ' the leader in 3D Animation and VFX training held at the SRPF grounds in Goregaon, Mumbai.

This year's award surpassed all expectations with the spectacular show that saw over 600 entries from renowned studios like DreamWorks, Eyeqube, Prime Focus, etc along with students and professionals from UK, USA, France, Germany, China and Pakistan participating in the awards. The winners were chosen after a stringent elimination process nominating some of their best work across 32 categories.

The event saw Eyecube Studios picking the Best Visual Effects Feature Film 2010 ' India for Aladin and Vaibhav studios won the Best TVC 2010 - India for Nick - Marriage Band sharing it with Visual Computing Labs for Spice Brooder Fish. The Best Animated (2D/3D) Short Film 2010 ' International was won by Dreamworks for MERRY MADAGASCAR whereas the India category saw Eye Qube/ Eros Studios winning the award for Don't touch me. The student entries saw awards going to young animators for their outstanding talent and creativity.

The action packed show had stellar performances by Prachi Desai, along with the electrifying performances by India's Got Talent Winner's 'Prince & Group and stand-up comedian, Kapil Sharma.

A prestigious jury panel of 38 industry stalwarts from across the world included Shelly Page from DreamWorks, Shesha Prasad from Rhythm & Hues, Virendra Chauhan from Paprikaas Interactive, Merzin Tavaria from Prime Focus Ltd and Viral Thakkar from Pixion Studios judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that 24FPS represents.

This year, 24FPS Awards saw some of the finest work done by the students and industry professionals from various institutes in India and beyond.
