Backed by Akshay Kumar, will FAU-G win over India’s khiladis?

Just a few days after the ban on PUBG and 118 other apps, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government had announced the launch of FAU-G (Fauji), a homegrown battle royale game eyeing to fill in the huge gap left by the PUBG ban. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is backing and promoting FAU-G. A teaser for FAU-G was released a couple of days back that depicts the heroics of the Indian armed forces. FAU-G will be a third person shooting game very similar to PUBG.

Besides enjoying the in-game action, gamers can also know about the accomplishments of Indian soldiers. The developers also announced that 20 per cent of the revenue from the game will to the brave Indian soldiers for the Bharat Ke Veer Trust, the government initiative to raise funds for the Indian Army and other security forces.

According to Vishal Gondal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, nCore Games and publisher of FAUG, the game has been in the works for some months and the initial or first level of the game is based on Galwan Valley. This is to pay tribute to the 20 Indian soldiers who were martyred in June this year in a clash with Chinese troops intruding into the Indian territory at the Galwan Valley site.

What do gamers think?
While the teaser does showcase a decent level of graphics and gameplay, nothing can really be predicted until the game is officially launched most probably in November 2020. FAU-G has really high standards to live up to that were set by PUBG for years.

PUBG players are devoted to the game. This is not only because it’s a shooting game. The graphics, features, gameplay and the way the game makes the players engage with each other is absolutely unique. There’s a reason why so many studios followed the footsteps of Tencent to create their own version of the battle royale game. PUBG offers some very unique features and designs that have made millions of gamers fall in love with the game across all platforms.

PUBG players love the game so much that even after the ban announcement, players have managed to download the updated version of the game through APK and OBB files available online.

Stickiness on PUBG is very high and it will be difficult for a game like FAU-G to draw attention of these gamers. While people will definitely want to try an Indian game, keeping those players engaged will definitely be a challenge for the developers.

The Indian market is extremely important for a game like PUBG and there have been talks about a comeback of the game as they look to take away publishing rights from Tencent to comply with the Indian Government’s regulations. If and when PUBG returns, FAU-G will need to up its game to meet up with the massive challenge.

In the mean time, gamers are waiting to try out FAU-G. We will do a detailed review of the game once it is officially released.
