Ballr takes title sponsorship for West Indies Tri-Series cricket

Mobile fan engagement platform, Ballr announced today that it will be the title sponsor for the West Indies Tri-Nation cricket series.

"Ballr takes enormous pride in becoming the official title sponsor of the West Indies Tri-Nations Series," said Sam Jones, Founder and CEO of Ballr. “The Tri-Nation series is a prestigious event, broadcasted to millions of fans around the world. We are excited to partner with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and bring an entirely new way to engage with live cricket to the global arena.”

The series, which includes Australia, South Africa and the West Indies, will run from June 3 to June 26 and will be known as the Ballr Cup.

Ballr’s micro fantasy game Next Over, where fans go head to head to predict the outcome of the next over by selecting the sequence of the next 6 deliveries, will be available for fans to play in India, Australia, South Africa and selected countries in the Caribbean.

“Our Next Over game is a perfect fit for cricket formats like the one day Tri-Series games. With the Tinder style interface fans are able to get in the game in second and begin testing their skill for a chance to top the leaderboard,” said Jones.

"WICB is delighted to announce Ballr as the title sponsor of the Tri-series.‎ Having a brand that is both innovative and passionate about the game associate itself with cricket in the Caribbean would encourage greater fan engagement as fans would have a new way to engage with live cricket. For Ballr There could not have been a better opportunity as the reigning World Champions (Australia) and a World No. 3 (South Africa) in ODI cricket visit the Windies who have stirred up a lot of excitement of their own winning the U-19 World Cup and two World Twenty20 titles (Men and Women) this year in style," said Dave Cameron, Chairman WICB

"WICB and ITW are delighted to have Ballr ‎associate itself with the West Indies Tri-Nation series as the title sponsor. ITW has always held the belief that quality cricket generates great audience regardless of where it is played and we have advocated for brands to support such events. The tri series, features arguably the three most exciting ODI teams in the world right now and we are confident that the association will earn Ballr immense exposure in off-shore markets and a significant return on investment," said Krishna Satya Co-founder of ITW sports,  a Global Sport Commerce affiliate‎ the title right holders for the series.

Unlike traditional fantasy sport formats, Ballr focuses on purely mobile, free each day, rapid-fire micro games, and does not operate in monetary gratification. Fan’s compete for points and leaderboard position which entitles them to prizes such as sports equipment, apparel, cars and money-can’t-buy-experience such as meeting their favourite cricketing legend at this year Tri-Nations match in the West Indies.

Rohan Kumar, Head of Sub-Continent said: “We are pleased to have partnered with WICB for the Tri-Series which has big-ticket teams like South Africa, Australia and West Indies participating. Considering India & Sub-Continent has the highest consumption of cricket, our strategic tie-up will further amplify our efforts to engage with fans not only in India and Sub-Continent but all over the world to engage with live sports like never before.”

The Ballr platform, owned by parent company Fantasy Sport Technologies, launched earlier this month in Delhi alongside the much-celebrated Indian spin bowler and brand ambassador Harbhajan Singh.

Ballr, which has received $4 million in seed capital, plans pursue a market of an estimated 400 million adult sports fans in Asia Pacific in the coming months, with soccer and basketball games on the horizon.
