BARC ratings Wk 32: Star Utsav rises to No. 2 in rural+urban viewership

BARC ratings for Week 32 (August 6-12) of 2016 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals] saw a change in the top order. While Star Plus continued to maintain its lead among Hindi GECs, Star Utsav gained major grounds as it climbed to the second spot from No. 4 last week.

Star Plus remained steadfast at the No. 1 spot in Week 32 as well, witnessing an increase in its gross viewership to 691,536 from 659,591 recorded last week. Two of its shows featured in the list of top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Week 32. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ was placed at the fourth place, garnering 8779 impressions (000s). ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ was at No. 5, garnering 8716 impressions (000s).

Star Utsav moved past Zee TV and Colors to be placed at No. 2 in Week 32. The channel witnessed a jump in its gross viewership as well to 598,686 from 528,083 recorded last week.

Zee TV slipped to No. 3 this week, after being placed at the second spot for weeks. The channel witnessed further decline in its gross viewership this week from 601,034 in Week 31 to 586734 in Week 32. However, its show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continued its run as the most watched show on Hindi GECs in rural+urban, garnering 12,369 impressions (000s) in Week 31, compared to 14,968 impressions (000s) last week. New show ‘Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan’ fared well, garnering 10821 impressions (000s). Meanwhile, ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’, which had made an entry in the top 5 list at No. 3 in Week 30, moved out of the list this week.

Colors slipped to No. 4 in Week 32, after being placed at the third spot for weeks. However, the channel registered an increase in its gross viewership from 547,974 in Week 31 to 586,017 this week. Its show, ‘Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’, which made an entry in the top 5 shows list at No. 2 last week, slipped a notch to the third spot, garnering 8,949 impressions (000s) from 8,684 impressions (000s), recorded in Week 31.

Zee Anmol, which had climbed up a notch to be placed at the fifth spot in Week 30, continued in this spot, registering a gross viewership of 490,427 in Week 31, a decline from 506,040 recorded last week.

Life OK was placed at the sixth spot this week as well. The channel witnessed a marginal rise in its gross viewership to 426,878 in Week 32 from 423,412 recorded last week.

Sony Pal continued at the seventh spot in Week 32 as well, witnessing an increase in its gross viewership to 395,033 from 403,285 recorded last week.

Sony SAB and Sony Entertainment Television switched places this week, with the former climbing up to No. 8, garnering a gross viewership of 375,475, up from 341,480 recorded in Week 31.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television slipped a notch to the ninth spot in Week 32, garnering gross viewership of 352,633, compared to 357,635, recorded last week.

Placed at the tenth spot, Rishtey saw a further decline in its gross viewership to 262,899 this week from 277,343 recorded in Week 31.
