BARC ratings Wk 5: Star Plus holds on to No. 1 spot; Sony TV back in top 10

BARC ratings for Week 5 (January 30-February 5) of 2016 saw several changes in viewership patterns of the leading Hindi GECs.

Star Plus, which climbed up to the No. 1 spot in Week 4 further consolidated its position registering a rise in gross viewership in Week 5 at 724,223 as against gross viewership of 711,538 last week.

Colors was placed at the second spot, witnessing a marginal increase in its gross viewership to 713,106 from 702,727 in Week 4.

Zee TV, too, held on to its third spot. The channel saw a slight fall in its gross viewership from 692,249 in Week 4 to 684,106 this week.

Placed at No. 4, Zee Anmol garnered gross viewership of 540,883, compared to 665,127 recorded in Week 4, which is a drop of around 19 per cent.

Life OK, which had dropped to No. 8 in Week 4, climbed up to the fifth spot pushing down Star Utsav. Life OK garnered gross viewership of 425,211 as against 411,480 last week.

Star Utsav slipped a notch to No. 6 slot from No. 5 as its gross viewership plummeted to 355,093, a drop of around 27 per cent compared to last week’s 487,280.

Meanwhile, Sony TV returned to the top 10, securing the seventh slot in Week 5 with gross viewership of 338,638.

Sony SAB climbed up a notch to be placed eighth from No. 7 last week, registering gross viewership of 334,730, which is a slight dip from 341,472 in Week 4.

Sony Pal dropped to No. 9 in Week 5 from No. 6 last week. The channel’s gross viewership dropped to 330,874 from 420,179 last week.

Week 5 brought little cheer for Rishtey, which dropped to No. 10 from No. 7 last week. The channel witnessed 30 per cent fall in its gross viewership, which is the highest drop this week.

Top 5 shows on Hindi GECs

Week 5 for the top shows on Hindi GECs saw little change with the exception of ‘Jamai Raja’, which made way for ‘Yeh Hain Mohabbatein’ at No. 5.

Colors’ ‘Naagin’ continued to be the top rated show in the Hindi GEC space, garnering ratings of 19,573 in Week 5, which is a slight rise from 19,133 recorded last week. Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ also remained unchanged at No. 2 with ratings of 14,587 as against 15,554 last week.

Star Plus’ ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ and Colors’ ‘Sasural Sasural Simar Ka’ continued in the third and fourth positions, respectively, with ratings of 13,003 and 12,716 in Week 5.

Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Hain Mohabbatein’ replaced Zee TV’s Jamai Raja with ratings of 10,956 in Week 5.
