BARC ratings Wk 9: Asia Cup on DD ends Naagin's reign as top show

BARC ratings for Week 9 (February 27-March 4) of 2016 brought a complete change in the top show rankings for Hindi GECs.

Live telecast of the fourth match of the Micromax Asia Cup T20 2016 between traditional rivals India and Pakistan on DD National was ranked first among the top shows on Hindi GECs in Week. The match garnered ratings of 24,804.

Colors’ ‘Naagin’, which has had an undisputed run at the No. 1 spot among Hindi GEC shows for weeks, slipped to the second spot losing out to cricket on the national broadcaster. The show garnered ratings of 19,564 this week as against ratings of 20,229 in Week 8.

No. 3 and No. 4 spots also belong to the Micromax Asia Cup T20 2016 match telecast. The seventh match played between India and Sri Lanka, which was telecast on DD National, was ranked third with ratings of 19,501.

The ninth match played between India and the UAE, which was also telecast on DD National, garnered ratings of 14,985.

‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ on Star Plus, which was ranked fourth in Week 8 with ratings of 13,871, slipped to the fifth spot. The show’s ratings further slipped to 12,148 in Week 9.

With more cricketing action lined up over the next few weeks with the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup and Vivo IPL Season 9, it will be interesting to watch how they impact the Hindi GEC landscape.
