BARC Week 35: HUL is top advertiser, but Reckitt Benckiser’s brands rule

Hindustan Unilever and Dettol continue as the top advertiser and top brand, respectively, in Week 35 of BARC ratings (Saturday, 28th August 2021 To Friday, 3rd September 2021) across genres.

This week, Hindustan Unilever widened its gap with Reckitt Benckiser India as the top advertiser, garnering ad volumes of 5072.06(000) seconds. Placed in the second spot, Reckitt Benckiser India reported ad volumes of 3217.63(000) seconds.

Brooke Bond Lipton India followed in the third place with ad volumes of 959.09(000) seconds, while Cadburys India was at No. 4 and garnered ad volumes of 708.24(000) seconds in Week 35. With ad volumes of 500.74(000) seconds, Procter & Gamble was placed in the fifth position.

Amazon Online India was the only e-commerce player in the Top 10 Advertiser list at No. 6. The company garnered ad volumes of 489.12(000) seconds. Colgate Palmolive India reported ad volumes of 468.89(000) seconds and followed in the seventh position, while Ponds India was placed in the eighth position with ad volumes of 428.38(000) seconds.

Asian Paints and ITC were placed at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, garnering ad volumes of 397.19(000) seconds and 395.57(000) seconds, respectively.

Top 10 Brands

Brands of Reckitt Benckiser India continue to dominate the Top 10 brands’ list in Week 35. In the lead was Dettol, which continued in the numero uno position, garnering ad volumes of 523.17(000) seconds.

Following close behind in the second place was Horlicks, which garnered ad volumes of 516.97(000) seconds. Airtel Black, which has been on an aggressive ad blitz in the recent weeks, was placed in the third spot and reported ad volumes of 381.35(000) seconds. Dettol Antiseptic Liquid, another brand from the Reckitt Benckiser stable, was placed in the fourth spot, garnering ad volumes of 332.1(000) seconds.

The next three brands are also from the Reckitt Benckiser stable – floor cleaner brand Lizol (No. 5), Dettol (No. 6) and Vanish Oci Action (No. 7), who have garnered ad volumes of 327.22(000) seconds, 307.68(000) seconds and 292.53(000) seconds, respectively.

Placed in the eighth position is, which has reported ad volumes of 285.35(000) seconds, while Clinic Plus Shampoo has garnered ad volumes of 280.35(000) seconds and is placed in the ninth position. Another Reckitt Benckiser brand, Harpic Bathroom Cleaner, is placed in the 10th position and has garnered ad volumes of 252.16(000) seconds.
