BARC Wk 21 ratings: Zee TV rides Dangal wave to No. 1 in R+U

BARC ratings for Week 21 (May 20-26) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw some upsets in the top 10 Hindi GECs, with Zee TV surging ahead of Star Plus to claim the numero uno spot in Rural+Urban. 

Zee TV, which had been hovering in the third or fourth spots in the last few weeks, saw major gains in Week 21, with the channel leaping to No. 1 from the third position last week. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 679,456, a jump from 503,242 recorded in Week 20. Two of its shows continued to be among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban this week as well. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continued to top the charts with 11,904 Impressions (000s), while talent hunt show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ remained in the fourth spot with 8,932 Impressions (000s). It may be noted here that Aamir Khan’s smash hit ‘Dangal’ was aired on Zee TV on Sunday, May 21, 2017. 

After spending weeks at No. 1, Star Plus slid a notch to the second spot in Week 21, garnering a gross viewership of 676,078, up from 637,109 recorded last week. Two of its shows featured in the list of most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, continued in the third spot, garnering 9,285 Impressions (000s). ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ made a re-entry at No. 5 with 7,598 Impressions (000s). 

Sony Pal slid a notch to No. 3 in Week 21. The channel registered a gross viewership of 627,243, an increase from 588,225 recorded last week. 

Along with Zee TV, Rishtey also gained major grounds in Week 21 climbing up to No. 4 from the sixth position last week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 512471, compared to 468,234 recorded in Week 20. 

Colors slid a notch to the fifth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 495,240, a further increase from 487,807 recorded in Week 20. ‘Naagin Season 2’ remained in the second spot in the list of most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban, garnering 9,459 Impressions (000s). 

Zee Anmol, too, slipped a notch to No. 6 in Week 21. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 467,055, a further decline from 475,426 recorded last week. 

Sony SAB continued in the seventh spot in Week 21 as well, garnering a gross viewership of 466,662, a further increase from 432,421 recorded last week. 

There was no change in the positions of Star Utsav, Sony Entertainment Television and Life OK as well. 

Star Utsav continued in the eighth spot in Week 21 as well, recording a gross viewership of 369,016, a further decline from 376,294 recorded last week. 

Sony Entertainment Television remained at No. 9 in Week 21, garnering a gross viewership of 361,599, a further increase from 350,216 recorded last week. 

Life OK continued in the tenth spot this week, registering an increase in its gross viewership – from 342,264 in Week 20 to 356,776 in Week 21.
