BARC Wk 24 ratings: Sony Pal overtakes Star as FTA channels rule

BARC ratings for Week 24 (June 10-16) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw another week of strong performance by the Free-To-Air (FTA) channels. Sony Pal rose to the top spot among Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban, even as Rishtey, Zee Anmol and Sony SAB further consolidated their positions. 

Sony Pal moved past Star Plus to claim the numero uno spot in Week 24. The channel, which was placed in the second spot in Week 23, reported a gross viewership of 590,797 this week, a jump from 539,747 recorded last week. 

Star Plus slipped a notch to the second spot in Week 24 with a gross viewership of 584,337, a further decline from 617,771 recorded last week. 

Rishtey, which had climbed up a notch and moved past Zee TV to reach the third spot in Week 23, held on to this position this week as well, garnering a gross viewership of 573,860, an increase from 530,771 recorded last week. 

Zee Anmol, too, held firm to its fourth position this week, witnessing an increase in its gross viewership – from 489,593 in Week 23 to 531,190 this week. 

Zee TV, which slipped to the fifth spot in Week 23, remained in this position this week as well, garnering a gross viewership of 469,297, a further decline from 487,877 recorded last week. Two of its shows featured in the list of top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Talent hunt show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ moved up to the third spot in Week 24 with 9,187 Impressions (000s). On the other hand, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ slid to the fifth spot with 8,407 Impressions (000s). 

Sony SAB put up a strong show this week, moving up from No. 8 in Week 23 to No. 6. The channel has garnered a gross viewership of 439,300, an increase from 418,957 recorded last week. 

Colors, which had slid a couple of notches from fifth spot to the seventh spot in Week 23, remained in this position this week as well. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 433,443, an increase from 422,356 recorded last week. Its show, ‘Naagin Season 2’, remained the fourth most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in Week 24 with 8,641 Impressions (000s). 

Telecast of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 on DD National continued to buoy the channel. However, DD National slipped a couple of notches to the eighth spot in Week 24 from No. 6 last week, garnering a gross viewership of 424,973, a decline from 435,065 recorded last week. The ICC Semi-Final tie between India and Bangladesh garnered 13,640 Impressions (000s), making it the most watched TV event this week. Placed second was the ICC match between India and South Africa, which secured 10,941 Impressions (000s). 

Sony Entertainment Television moved up a notch to the ninth spot, garnering a gross viewership of 362,259 in Week 24, compared to 322,318 recorded last week. 

Life OK, which had moved out of the top 10 list in Week 23, made a re-entry at No. 10 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 321,383. 

Meanwhile, this week Star Utsav moved out of the top 10 list. The channel was placed in the ninth spot in Week 23 with a gross viewership of 323,416.
