BARC Wk 31 News: Republic Bharat surges to No. 2 on Sushant Singh Rajput coverage
Republic Bharat has seen major gains in Week 31 (Saturday, 1st August 2020 to Friday, 7th August 2020), as per BARC data. The channel climbed two notches to the second spot, displacing TV9 Bharatvarsh, and garnering gross viewership of 184,045(000), as against 156,058(000) recorded last week. In the last one week, Republic Bharat has been relentless in its coverage of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and has been questioning the Mumbai Police’s investigation in the case.
Aaj Tak continues to lead the Hindi News genre, witnessing an increase in its gross viewership to 241,750(000), from 214,961(000) recorded in Week 30.
India TV remained unchanged at No. 3 in Week 31, with gross viewership of 180,893(000), an increase from 164,446(000) recorded last week.
After a few weeks at No. 2, TV9 Bharatvarsh slid to the fourth spot this week, registering a gross viewership of 175,778(000). The channel had recorded a gross viewership of 178,685(000) in Week 30.
ABP News was the new entrant this week in the top 5 list. Placed at No. 5, the channel garnered a gross viewership of 163,275(000). In Week 30, News18 India was placed in the fifth spot, with a gross viewership of 150,436(000).
Republic TV and Times Now continued as the top two channels in English News genre. Both channels witnessed growth in their gross viewership, however, he gap between the two channels widened this week. Republic TV reported a gross viewership of 6,192(000), as against 4,062(000) in Week 30. Meanwhile, Times Now’s gross viewership grew from 2,983(000) last week to 3,921(000) in Week 31.
DD India climbed up a couple of notches to No. 3, garnering a gross viewership of 2,631(000), an increase from 1,184(000) recorded last week.
CNN News18 and India Today Television slid a notch each to be placed at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. While CNN News18 garnered a gross viewership of 1,915(000) in week 31, India Today Television’s gross viewership stood at 1431(000).
