BARC Wk 32: Zee Anmol reclaims top spot; big gains for Star Plus

BARC ratings for Week 31 (August 4-10) [HSM (U+R): NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw quite some upheaval among the top 10 Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Zee Anmol made its way back to the numero uno spot this week, while Star Plus chalked up an impressive performance to rise to the second spot. Its show, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, was among the top 5 shows. Dangal TV, meanwhile, muscled its way into the top 10 list. 

After sliding to the third position last week, Zee Anmol reclaimed its numero uno position in Week 32. The channel is back stronger than before, witnessing a growth in its gross viewership to 747,862 from 652,641 recorded in Week 31. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, climbed up a notch to No. 4 among most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 12,683 (000) Impressions.  

Star Plus, which has been seeing gains in the last few weeks, climbed up three notches from No. 5 to No. 2 this week, the highest ranking for the channel since rural ratings were introduced by BARC India. The channel recorded a further increase in its gross viewership – from 629,941 in Week 31 to 682,867 this week. It’s prime time show, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, entered the list of top 5 most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban for the first time at No. 5 with 11,579 (000) Impressions.  

Star Utsav, which had surprised many by reaching the numero uno spot in Week 31, slid a couple of notches to the third spot this week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 665,087, a decline from 672,028 recorded last week. 

Zee TV, too, slipped a couple of notches to the fourth spot in Week 32, garnering a gross viewership of 621,587, a decline from 662,938 recorded last week. Two of its shows continue to be among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Marquee show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, rose to the second spot with 13,130 (000) impressions, while its spin-off show, ‘Kundali Bhagya’, slipped a notch to No. 3 with 12,972 (000) Impressions.  

On the other hand, Sony Pal climbed up a couple of notches to No. 5 in Week 32, recording a gross viewership of 614,763, an increase from 582,609 recorded last week. 

Star Bharat further slipped in the rankings, going down a couple of notches to the sixth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 613,191, compared to 638,043 recorded in Week 31. 

The slide continued for Colors in Week 32 as well, as the channel slid a notch to the seventh spot. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 596,396, a decline from 602,352 recorded last week. Colors’ prime property, ‘Naagin 3’, continued as the most watched show in Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 15,221 (000) Impressions. 

There was no change in the rankings of Rishtey and Sony Entertainment Television, which continued at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, in Week 32. Rishtey garnered a gross viewership of 550,026, a further increase from 526,501 recorded last week, while Sony Entertainment Television recorded a gross viewership of 491,619, compared to 498,865 recorded last week. 

Meanwhile, Dangal TV made an entry in the list of top 10 Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban at the tenth spot in Week 32. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 436,147. 

Sony SAB, which was placed at No. 10 last week with a gross viewership of 456,529, moved out of the top 10 list in Week 32 for the first time since BARC ratings came into being.
