BARC Wk 37: Top 5 Hindi News channels see decline in gross viewership

Week 37 (Saturday, 12th September 2020 To Friday, 18th September 2020) saw all the Top 5 Hindi News channels register decline in their gross viewership, as per BARC data (HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals).

Republic Bharat continued in the numero uno spot in Week 37 as well, however the channel witnessed a decline in its gross viewership to 278,477(000) from 333,938(000) recorded last week.

Placed at No, 2, Aaj Tak, too, recorded degrowth in its gross viewership this week at 198,658(000) from 259,994(000) recorded in Week 37.

After slipping a notch to No. 4 last week, TV9 Bharatvarsh, climbed back a notch to the third spot in Week 37. However, this did not have a positive impact on the channel’s gross viewership, which slid to 149,549(000) from 161,187(000) recorded last week.

Meanwhile, India TV, which had climbed up a notch to the third spot in Week 36, slid a notch to be back at No. 4 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 143,960(000), a decline from 163,054(000) recorded last week.

News18 India remained unchanged at No. 5 in Week 37 as well. The channel, too, saw a decline in its gross viewership – from 126,273(000) in Week 36 to 119,820(000) recorded this week.

English News

Republic TV continued its unbroken run as the leader among English News channels in Week 37 as well. The channel’s gross viewership this week stood at 6,070(000). Times Now followed at No. 2, garnering gross viewership of 2,177(000). Continuing in the third spot, CNN News18, garnered a gross viewership of 1,465(000) this week. DD India was placed in the fourth position with a gross viewership of 1,319(000), while India Today Television followed at No. 5, garnering a gross viewership of 1237(000) in Week 37.
