BARC Wk 42: Zee TV slips to No. 5 on all platform

BARC India data for Week 42 (Saturday, October 12 to Friday, October 18) of 2019 shows Zee TV slip from the third spot to No.5 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals]. This apart, there hasn’t been too much upheaval in the channel rankings this week. 

All Platform 

Placed in the numero uno position, Dangal TV saw a hike in its gross viewership in Week 42 to 1,089,599 from 1,030,043 recorded last week. Continuing at No. 2, Star Plus, too, saw an increase in its gross viewership this week at 673,708, compared to 636,896 recorded in Week 41. 

This week, Sony Entertainment Television climbed up a notch to the third spot with a gross viewership of 661,628, an increase from 624,019 recorded in Week 41. Sony SAB, too, climbed up a notch to reach the fourth position, recording a gross viewership of 653,296, as against 581,660 recorded last week. 

On the other hand, Zee TV slipped a couple of notches back to No. 5 in Week 42. The channel saw a decline in its gross viewership to 625,015, from 630,909 recorded last week. 

Colors remained unchanged at No. 6 this week as well, witnessing further decline in its gross viewership to 511,650, compared to 522,099 recorded in Week 41. 

There was no change in the rankings of Big Magic and Star Bharat in Week 42, which continued at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. While Big Magic’s gross viewership further grew to 463,289 from 458,765, Star Bharat saw a further decline to 290,766, as against 317,854 last week. 

Sony Pal and Star Utsav swapped places this week, with Sony Pal slipping a notch to the tenth spot and Star Utsav climbing up a notch to the ninth spot. Star Utsav saw an increase in its gross viewership – from 140,722 in Week 41 to 163,963 this week. Meanwhile, Sony Pal’s gross viewership declined to 147,419 this week, from 140,722 recorded in Week 41.

Pay Platform 

Week 42 saw Star Plus holding on to its numero uno status, as the channel registered an increase in its gross viewership in Week 41 to 671,602, from 634,958 recorded last week. 

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) climbed up a notch to No. 2, displacing Zee TV. SET recorded a gross viewership of 658,724, an increase from 622,404 recorded in Week 41. Sony SAB, too, moved up a notch to the third spot with a gross viewership of 649,719, a leap from 578,993 recorded last week.  

Meanwhile, Zee TV slipped a couple of notches to No. 4 witnessing a decline in its gross viewership – from 629,557 in Week 41 to 624,171 this week. 

There was no change in Colors’ ranking, which continued to be placed in the fifth position. The channel saw a further decline in its gross viewership to 510,074 from 520,433 recorded in Week 41.

There was no change in the rankings of Star Bharat and Dangal TV in Week 42 as well, which continued at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Both the channels saw further decline in their gross viewership. Star Bharat’s gross viewership declined to 289,870, from 316,949 recorded last week; while Dangal TV reported a gross viewership of 240,713, as against 245,898 recorded last week.

This week, Star Utsav climbed up one notch to be placed in the eighth spot with a gross viewership of 162,893, as against 140,503 recorded in Week 41. Sony Pal, on the other hand, slipped a notch to the ninth spot, garnering a gross viewership of 146,451, a slight decline from 147,396 recorded last week. 

Colors Rishtey made its foray into the list of top 10 Hindi GECs on pay platform for the first time in Week 42. The channel came in at No. 10, displacing &TV, which moved out of the top 10 list this week. Colors Rishtey garnered a gross viewership of 143,420.
