BARC Wk 50 ratings: Star Bharat retains lead; Zee Anmol moves past Colors

BARC ratings for Week 50 (December 9-15) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw Star Bharat continue to lead the among Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Zee Anmol performed well, too, climbing up a couple of notches to the second position. With the year almost coming to an end, it will be interesting to see if the FTA channels end 2017 on a strong note. Or will Colors or Zee TV claim the numero uno spot. Keep watching this space... 

Star Bharat, which had climbed up to the No. 1 spot last week, held on to this position in Week 50 as well. Star Bharat had earlier reached the No. 1 spot in Week 45. However, the channel witnessed a decline in its gross viewership – from 725,644 in Week 49 to 684,322 recorded this week. After topping the list of most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban last week, sitcom ‘Kya Haal Mr Panchaal’ slipped to the third spot with 10,571 Impressions (000s). 

Zee Anmol climbed up a couple of notches to the second spot in Week 50, garnering a gross viewership of 644,895, an increase from 611,444 recorded last week. The channel was consistently leading the Hindi GEC space in Rural+Urban for several weeks until Week 44. 

Colors, meanwhile, slipped a notch to No. 3 this week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 620,815, a further decline from 643,097 recorded in Week 49. 

Zee TV, too, slipped a notch to the fourth spot this week. The channel had climbed up to the top spot in Week 48, before slipping to the third spot last week. The channel witnessed a further decline in its gross viewership – from 636,443 recorded last week to 575,064 recorded in Week 50. Two of its shows continued to be among the top 5 most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was back at No. 1 with 11,356 Impressions (000s), while ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ remained in the second spot with 11,047 Impressions (000s). 

Sony Pal continued in the fifth spot in Week 50 as well, garnering a gross viewership of 548,810, a decline from 606,991 recorded last week. 

Star Utsav, too, continued to be placed in the sixth spot in Week 50 as well. However, compared to the jump it saw in its gross viewership in Week 49, this week, the channel saw a decline – from 546,771 to 520,333 recorded in Week 50. 

There was no change in the position of Star Plus as well in Week 50, which continued at No. 7, garnering a gross viewership of 517,696, a further increase from 493,837 recorded last week. 

Rishtey, too, remained unchanged at No. 8 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 435,046, compared to 425,303 recorded in Week 49. 

Sony Entertainment Television, which had climbed up a notch to the ninth spot in Week 49, remained in this position this week as well, garnering a gross viewership of 417,585, a further increase from 395,579 recorded last week. Dance reality show, ‘Super Dancer Chapter 2’, which was the new entrant in the top 5 shows list last week, was placed in the fourth spot with 9,559 Impressions (000s). 

Sony SAB remained in the tenth spot in Week 50, garnering a gross viewership of 377,674, a further decline from 393,338 recorded last week. Long-running sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ made its way into the top 5 most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban yet again and was placed at the fifth spot this week with 8,810 Impressions (000s).
