BARC Wk 52: Zee Anmol ends 2018 at No. 1; Indian Idol gains huge traction

BARC ratings for Week 52 (December 22-28) of 2018 [HSM (U+R): NCCS all: 2+ Individuals] saw Zee Anmol retain its hold on the numero uno spot. Despite a decline in viewership, Zee TV was placed second. The grand finale of ‘Indian Idol’ was the third most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban, taking Sony Entertainment Television to the fifth spot. 

Zee Anmol ended 2018 in the numero uno spot, a position it held on to for the major part of the year gone by. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 783,610 in Week 52, an increase from 764,424 recorded last week. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was the most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in the last week of 2018 with 14,093 (000) Impressions. 

Zee TV moved to No. 2 this week. However, the channel witnessed a decline in its gross viewership to 667,580 from 714,003 recorded in Week 51. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was placed fourth among the most watched shows with 11,099 (000) Impressions. 

Placed at the third spot, Star Bharat, too, saw a decline in its gross viewership in Week 52 at 650,558, from 685,395 recorded last week. Mythological show, ‘Radhakrishn’, was at No. 5 among most watched shows with 10,663 (000) Impressions. 

Star Plus, meanwhile, slipped to No. 4 in Week 52, garnering a gross viewership of 621,686, a sharp decline from 726,911,recorded last week. 

On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television jumped to the fifth position on the back of the grand finale of talent hunt show ‘Indian Idol’. The channel saw a huge increase in its gross viewership from 497,633 in Week 51 to 581,218 recorded this week. ‘Indian Idol’ was placed third among most watched shows with 12,176 (000) Impressions. 

Star Utsav was placed at No. 6 in Week 52, recording a gross viewership of 567,006, a marginal increase from 561,540 recorded last week. 

Placed at the seventh spot, Colors recorded a gross viewership of 551,962, an increase from 551,706 recorded in Week 51. Colors’ prime property, ‘Naagin 3’, ended the year at No. 2 among most watched shows, registering 12,271 (000) Impressions. 

Sony Pal, Rishtey and Dangal TV filled up the last three places at No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in Week 52. 

Sony Pal garnered a gross viewership of 538,666, an increase from 518,218, recorded last week. Rishtey, too, saw an increase in its gross viewership at 464,947, from 417,356 recorded in Week 51. Dangal TV reported a gross viewership of 459,737, an increase from 446,359 recorded last week.
