BARC Wk 9 ratings: Sony Pal surges to No.1; CID in list of most watched shows

BARC ratings for Week 9 of 2018 (February 24-March 2) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw some upheavals in the Hindi GEC rankings. Sony Pal, backed by long-running crime fiction show ‘CID’, moved past Star Bharat and Zee Anmol to claim the No. 1 spot. Star Utsav, too, saw gains this week, climbing up to the fourth spot from the sixth spot last week. 

After being placed in the third spot for some weeks, Sony Pal climbed up a couple of notches to the numero uno position in Week 9. The channel saw a jump in its gross viewership to 753,407 from 679,385 recorded last week. Sony Pal’s gain is powered by the strong show put up by the long-running crime fiction show – ‘CID’ – which was the third most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 10,014 (000) Impressions. This is the first time that ‘CID’ has made it to this list since BARC ratings came into being. 

Star Bharat slipped a notch to the second spot this week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 750,429 a slight decline from 754.202 recorded in Week 8. 

Zee Anmol, too, slipped a notch to the third spot in Week 9, garnering a gross viewership of 682,244, a further decline from 713,606 recorded last week. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, slipped a notch to the second spot this week with 11,610 (000) Impressions. 

On the other hand, Star Utsav climbed up a couple of notches to the fourth spot this week. However, the channel witnessed a further decline in its gross viewership – from 536,145 recorded in Week 8 to 530,012 this week. 

Zee TV, meanwhile, slipped a notch to No. 5 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 522,300, a decline from 565,898 recorded in Week 8. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was back at No. 1 among most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 12,537 (000) Impressions. Meanwhile, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ slipped to the fifth third spot with 9,630 (000) Impressions. 

Colors, too, slipped a notch to the sixth spot in Week 9, garnering a gross viewership of 488,058, a further decline from 552,352 recorded last week. 

Star Plus continued in the seventh spot this week as well. However, the channel witnessed a decline in its gross viewership – from 520,154 in Week 8 to 455,366 this week. 

There was no change in the positions of Rishtey, Sony Entertainment Television and Sony SAB as well. 

Rishtey remained at No. 8 this week, recording a gross viewership of 436,296, a decline from 482,384 recorded in Week 8. 

Sony Entertainment Television was placed at the ninth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 431,930, a decline from 445,319 recorded in Week 8. Dance reality show, ‘Super Dancer Chapter 2’, re-entered the list of most watched shows with 9,817 (000) Impressions. 

Sony SAB continued to be placed in the tenth spot in Week 9 as well, reporting a gross viewership of 404,767, a marginal increase from 394,778 recorded last week.
