BARC Wk 9 ratings: Star Plus consolidates lead; Sony Pal straddles No. 3

BARC ratings for Week 9 (February 25-March 3) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals] saw Star Plus further consolidate its leadership position. As is known, BARC India has revised its Universe Estimate (UE), which is based on the results of Broadcast India Survey. With the new UE, Week 8 saw a significant increase of 18 per cent in Total TV viewership in the country. Total TV impressions grew from 22.7 billion in Week 7 to 26.7 billion impressions in Week 8. 

Star Plus further consolidated its numero uno position in Week 9, seeing a hike in its gross viewership to 783,794 from 712,076 recorded last week. Its show, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ entered the list of top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Urban + Rural, garnering 10,540 Impressions (000s). 

Colors continued to be placed on the second spot in Week 9, witnessing a gross viewership of 634,917, compared to 640,525 recorded last week. ‘Naagin Season 2’ on Colors held on to its numero uno position amongst the most watched shows on Hindi GECs, garnering 12,278 Impressions (000s). 

Sony Pal climbed up a notch to No. 3 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 563,212, an increase from 523,334 recorded in Week 8. The channel has been steadily gaining grounds in the last few weeks. 

Zee TV, meanwhile, climbed up a notch further to No. 4 in Week 9, recording a gross viewership of 556,365, an increase from 508,260 recorded last week. Two of its shows – ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ – have made it to the list of top 5 shows on Hindi GECs. While ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ is placed at No. 2 with 12,219 Impressions (000s), ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ follows at the third spot with 10,776 Impressions (000s). 

Rishtey slid a couple of notches to be placed at the fifth spot in Week 9, recording a gross viewership of 506,028, a decline from 537,507 recorded last week. Rerun of ‘Naagin - Season 2’ on Rishtey garnered 9,829 Impressions (000s). The show slipped to the fifth spot among the top 5 most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural & Urban this week. 

Zee Anmol continued to be placed at the sixth spot this week. The channel saw a decline in its gross viewership from 504,534 in Week 8 to 491,557 this week. 

Star Utsav climbed up a notch to No. 8 in Week 9, recording a gross viewership of 456187, a slight increase from 448,900 recorded last week. 

Sony Entertainment Television slipped a notch to be placed at No. 8 this week, witnessing a decline in its gross viewership – from 467,421 in Week 8 to 431,506 this week. 

There was no change in the positions of Sony SAB and Life OK in Week 9. Sony SAB continued at No. 9 with a gross viewership of 423,175, an increase from 390,487 recorded last week. 

Life OK continued in the tenth spot this week, registering a gross viewership of 387,790, a decline from 390,466 recorded in Week 8.
