BBC Click takes audiences behind the scenes of its first ever live show

After 16 years of showcasing the best innovations in technology from around the world, BBC Click has gone live!

For the first time, the BBC’s flagship technology programme gave a live audience the opportunity to step inside of their television and take an inspirational journey to the future with presenter Spencer Kelly. The event was filmed in front of a live audience at the BBC’s Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House, London, and will be broadcast on BBC World News at 12noon IST on Saturday 31 December.

Click Live explores the latest developments in artificial intelligence, hologram technology and 360° sound. The programme includes demonstrations from NASA representatives, who show their research in the rapidly evolving area of mixed reality, and examples of the life changing work that top robotics scientist Dr Ravi Vaidyanathan and his team have been doing for quadriplegics.

This special programme also shows international audiences exactly what goes into putting together a live Click production. From the ins and outs of producing a television programme, to the risks of demonstrating cutting-edge prototypes that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in front of a live studio audience, Click Live provides a behind-the-scenes look at the programme’s latest endeavour.

BBC Click presenter Spencer Kelly said: “I absolutely loved presenting the live show, to actually have real people there that I could interact with was amazing. I hope the audience at home enjoy witnessing our preparation and terror at putting this together. But I also hope they enjoy seeing real people come up on stage and try some of the latest, cutting-edge tech – what could possibly go wrong.”

BBC Click provides a comprehensive guide to innovation and tech, covering all the latest advances, gadgets, apps and tech industry news. It is broadcast weekly around the globe on BBC World News TV on Saturdays at 12noon IST and again on Sundays at 1am, 9am and 7pm IST.

Viewers can also follow the programme via BBC Click on Google+ or @BBCClick on Twitter, subscribe to the BBC Click YouTube channel or visit the BBC Click Facebook page.
