BBC Studios productions appoints Jane Lomas as Director of Programmes

Reporting into the Creative Director of Factual Entertainment in Bristol and Cardiff, Juliet Rice, Lomas will be providing senior editorial support to producers and senior editors across the department’s heritage brands teams as well as overseeing operations and finance.

BBC Studios Factual Entertainment and Events produce some of Britain’s most watched and best loved programming; known as our Heritage Brands, which include iconic productions such as Countryfile, DIY SOS, Antiques Roadshow, Gardeners World and Bargain Hunt. Factual Entertainment and Events are also responsible for some of BBC Studios’ biggest brands and titles including Top Gear, Dragons’ Den, Antiques Roadshow, Amazing Hotels, Morning Live, in addition to the prestigious Royal Ceremonial Event coverage including the Queen’s State Funeral and The Earthshot Prize.

Lomas brings a wealth of experience with her to the role with a career steeped in factual entertainment and specialist factual programming where she has spearheaded inventive ways to refresh brands and lead creative teams to deliver compelling content.

Joining from her role as Series Editor of Countryfile (BBC One), Lomas has previously held roles as Executive Producer and Series Editor/Producer across a range of programming, including Man V Wild (Channel 4/Discovery), Animal Park (BBC One), Streetmate (Channel 4), Tribal Wives (BBC Two), Inside the National Trust (ITV), Scrapheap Challenge (Channel 4) and Emergency Bikers (Channel 5).
