Benz partners with Google
Mercedes-Benz announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Google for navigation and will provide "super computer-like performance" in every vehicle equipped with automated driving sensors in an effort to compete with Tesla and Chinese companies.
Automakers of all ages are vying to match Tesla's software-powered features, which enable remote updates to self-driving capability, battery range, and car performance.
According to chief executive Ola Kaellenius, the German automaker agreed to share revenue with semiconductor manufacturer Nvidia Corp, its partner on automated driving software since 2020, in order to reduce the upfront cost of buying pricey high-powered transistors.a
