Bharti Airtel picks Shishir Kumar as CEO, Upper North

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced the appointment of Shishir Kumar as CEO of the company's B2C operations in Upper North (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & J&K) circle. He will report to Ajai Puri, Operations Director, North, East & Bangladesh. This is in line with the new organization structure that Bharti Airtel recently announced for its India and South Asia operations.

Announcing the appointment, Ajai Puri, Operations Director - North, East & Bangladesh, Bharti Airtel said, "As we move into the next phase of our growth journey, I am delighted to welcome Shishir Kumar in his new role as CEO of Upper North for our B2C operations. With his rich experience and deep market understanding, we are confident that he will successfully lead our performance and growth in the Upper North market".

Effective August 1, 2011 - Bharti Airtel's new structure is aimed at driving greater business and functional synergies, providing a common interface to customers, and creating a de-layered and more agile organization. In addition, the new structure will provide more meaningful, empowered roles and enhance employee engagement. Bharti Airtel's transformed organisation structure has two distinct Customer Business Units (CBU) with clear focus on B2C (Business to Customer) and B2B (Business to Business) segments.
