Bipasha Basu @44 - From glam queen to motherhood

Bipasha Basu is an actress and model who was born on January 7, 1979, in New Delhi. She has primarily acted in Hindi-language films. Following a successful modelling career, Basu made her Bollywood debut in the 2001 thriller Ajnabee with Abbas Mastan, for which she was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. After that, she acted in Takari Dongra (2002), a Telugu movie that became popular in the South.

Her second film, Raaz, a horror film directed by Vikram Bhatt, is what made her famous. The film’s lead role was played by Bipasha Basu, who was paired with Dino Morea. Raaz was a huge box office success, and Basu garnered favourable reviews. Bipasha Basu genuinely believes in leading a healthy lifestyle and is also very passionate about fitness. She released her Love Yourself DVD collection to spread the word about her philosophy on leading a joyful life.

She has performed in experimental films like Pankh and Shob Charitro Kalponik in addition to commercial movies, where she played less glamorous roles. Both films were unsuccessful in making an impression. However, Bipasha Basu’s performance in Pankh was praised by critics. She later appeared in the 2011 films Dum Maaro Dum and Players alongside Abhishek Bachchan. However, both failed to advance her career.

Ten years after the release of Raaz, Basu returned to the horror genre and featured in supernatural movies including Raaz 3, Creature, and Alone, none of which had a significant box office impact. In October 2015, Basu served as the host of the popular horror miniseries Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. Along with acting in movies, she has appeared in the videos Stolen by Jay Sean and Tu by Sonu Nigam.
