Booking of Online Railway Tickets Witnessed 231% YoY Growth: IAMAI

According to the latest Internet Economy Watch, published jointly by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB, the online booking of railway tickets increased from 4 million in April 2013 to 13.25 million in April 2014 registering a y-o-y growth of 231%. While online booking of railway tickets grew astonishingly, the air tickets booked online in April 2014 were 1.78 million as compared to 0.78 million in corresponding month last year registering 110 % y-o-y growth.

The number of resume uploads has gone up to 3.27 million in April 2014 as compared to 1.06 million in April 2013, registering a Y-o-Y growth of 208 percent. According to the April data, the number of profile uploads on matrimonial sites also witnessed an increase. Profile uploads on matrimonial sites increased to 1.17 million in April 2014 as compared to 0.64 million in the corresponding month last year.

 

According to the data captured from major e-tailing sites in the monthly tracker, online visit to branded apparels and footwear segments have increased by 127 percent and 83 percent respectively, when compared to the numbers of corresponding month last year. A significant increase has been registered in the online users visit to mobile segment. The number of visits has increased to 20.35 million in April 2014 from 7.07 million in April 2013, 188 percent Y-o-Y growth. The online users visit to spa and restaurant segment increased from 0.35 million in April 2013 to 0.69 million in April 2014 a y-o-y increase of 97 percent.

The monthly tracker further indicates 61.28 million people accessed various e-tailing sites. There were 2601.51 million page views in the category. The user reach for job and matrimonial websites is 29.03 million and 20.54 million respectively with 1161.80 million and 299.40 million respective page views. Online travel segment has reach with 32.58 million reach and 2594.73 million page views.
