Brand Moments: Celebrating Independence Day the Atmanirbhar way

Over the years, Independence Day has become a great occasion for brands to create engagement. Patriotic fervour rules high in brand communications, celebrating national pride and rousing emotions.

Coming amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, Independence Day this year is witnessing some turbulent times and muted spirits of the people.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors, in association with WATConsult, has announced the launch of ‘Atmanirbharta by Tata Motors’ – a digital campaign highlighting the existence of localisation in everything that we do. Designed and conceptualised by WATConsult, this campaign has been released ahead of India’s 74th Independence Day and emphasises on the meaning of ‘Atmanirbharta’ or self-reliance for individuals and the nation as a whole.

Mountain Dew

Beverage brand Mountain Dew salutes India’s resilient spirit this Independence Day with a rendition of the timeless anthem of patriotism – ‘Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawaano Ka’ from Saregama. Mountain Dew’s take on the powerful anthem has been composed by music producer/composer Ram Sampath, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire and features soul stirring vocals from Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh. The video features stills of some of independent India’s most defining moments – be it the 1983 Cricket World Cup win, the launch of the homegrown Mangalyaan, AR Rahman’s Oscar win or the bravado of the real heroes facing the current times – all of which are testimony to the resilience of India and a reminder on how we will be victorious again and come out of the challenging times we are facing today.

Suzuki Motorcycle India

Saluting the spirit of India’s frontline Pandemic warriors, Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its Independence Day campaign – #ParkForFreedom. The campaign consists of a digital film featuring Indian citizens revving their stationery vehicles and requesting people not to step outside their homes on 15th August unless it is absolutely essential. The heartwarming campaign where the sound of accelerating engines is rhyming with the melody of ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’ song, conveys a public interest message to curb the spread of Covid-19 by staying at home this ‘Independence Day’. The 5-day long initiative is targeted at two-wheeler riders across the nation.

LG Electronics

LG Electronics is celebrating this Independence Day by announcing its contribution under ‘Kar Salaam - A CSR initiative’. Under the aegis of this initiative, LG Electronics will donate Rs 1 crore to Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) under Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat (KSB SECTT), a nodal organisation of the Government of India, Ministry of Defence. AFFDF is dedicated to welfare of war widows, children of martyr’s, war disabled soldiers & Ex-servicemen. The ‘Kar Salaam’ initiative was started 3 years ago by LG Electronics, dedicated to the soldiers of India. Through the initiative, LG Electronics endeavoured to salute the soldiers’ spirit of generous contribution and service towards the nation.

On the occasion of Independence Kent launched a campaign with a message to honour the corona warriors- The Real Heroes.The video beautifully depicts and reminds the consistent effort put in by the front-line workers. Their contribution is immense and incomparable which is the underlying message of the video.

In its newly released brand film, MTV shows people from different walks of life in 2019, criticizing the monotony of college life, everyday hassle of traveling to office, also talking about how partying is done to death for youngsters and being self-dependent an overrated concept. But then, 2020 happened. And the world turned upside down! That college guy, the working professional, and the party animal going-girl are seen sitting at home, missing their freedom of going to parties, traveling to office, meeting friends, enjoying festivals and yearning for the time that they never valued. Godrej

The Godrej Group celebrated India’s 74th Independence Day today with the release of a digital film highlighting the pivotal role it has played as nation builders to our country.

 Aptly titled the ‘The Box that Unboxed India’, the film opens by recalling Godrej’s contribution to India’s first democratic elections in 1952 when the Group made 1.2 million ballot boxes for the voters, literally ‘unboxing freedom’. It then takes viewers through the Group’s efforts over the decades to build a self-reliant India, through its various businesses spanning Agriculture to Aerospace.

This Independence Day, OYO took a unique twist on the concept of ‘celebrating freedom’ and thereby, launched its Road Trippin campaign under the larger theme #DekhoApnaDesh. As a part of the campaign, the world’s leading hospitality chain also joined hands with the country’s favorite men on the highway - Rocky & Mayur to inspire travellers itching to step out of their homes to put their cars in gear and head on exciting roadtrips across India, safely.

On the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day, GoPro has released a video to commemorate the National Flag. Ideated and created by Jio Creative Labs, India's most versatile creative house, the video shows gymnasts of the team and 'Incredible Mallakhamb' form the Tiranga, or the tricolor flag, on a mallakhamb, which is a centuries-old Indian sport. The team came to the limelight after it found its way to the finals of India’s Got Talent Season 7.
