BSNLlive Hello TV reaches 5 Lac mobile subscriber base

Hello TV ' a premium mobile TV service launched on February 2010 by Percept Knorigin has reached a cumulative subscriber number of 5 Lakhs, both 3G & non3G users in the year 2011.

Unlike other mobile TV services, this service is accessible from native browser of phone thereby making its reach to all feature phones which can play streaming media, making it accessible to 90% of the multimedia handsets in the market. Hello TV currently provides 120+ live TV channels across BSNL Network on a paid basis with packs ranging from Rs.10 Rs a day to Rs. 29 a month. Hello TV provides a wide variety of regional and national channels, Aaj Tak, B4U, Sun, Udaya, Gemini, Star News, Zoom, Times Now, UTV, CNN-IBN, ETV, TV9 etc. being some of the popular ones!

Commenting on the development said, Viraj Malik, CEO and Managing Director, Percept Knorigin," Company is now in the process of rolling out Hello TV services for data card and Ipad users. Our focus is to make the service, user friendly and cost effective for end users. Effective costs for some of the packs work out even less than INR 1 per day. We feel TV is one application which can drive adoption of data in the country and the growth for all operators is heavily dependent on data."

Hello TV service is available on BSNLlive which is the default destination for GPRS users in BSNL. For 3G users the service is also available on short code 51010 nations wide, whereby a user can just make a video call to short code 51010 and access live TV service. Service is slated to be launched on three more operators in coming month.
