Cannes Lions Day 2: Dentsu Creative bags Gold; BYJU’S & DDB Mudra win 2 Silvers

India continued with the winning momentum set on Day 1 at Cannes Lions 2022, into the second day of the festival as well. India secured 3 metals on Day 2 – Dentsu Creative continued its strong run, winning 1 Gold, while BYJU’S and DDB Mudra took home 1 Silver each.

Dentsu Creative’s much appreciated work, titled ‘The Unfiltered History Tour’, done for Vice Media, fetched the agency a Gold in Digital Craft Lions under the Personalised Storytelling & Experience subcategory. As reported earlier, this campaign won the Grand Prix in Radio and Audio Lions on Day 1, along with 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes.

On winning the Gold, Amit Wadhwa, CEO India, Dentsu Creative, said, “It has been a fantabulous Day 2 at Cannes Lions. After an exciting start with a Grand Prix, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze, we are ecstatic to add a Gold to our kitty. This is indeed a mesmerising experience. A big, big thank you to all our ex and present teammates for making this happen. It has indeed been a breathtaking miracle. Also, my deepest gratitude to everyone who has held their faith in our teams and work. Thank you!”

Ajay Gahlaut, Group Chief Creative Officer India, Dentsu Creative, added here, “After the Grand Prix yesterday, the Gold today comes as yet another validation of the quality of The Unfiltered History Tour campaign. Winning against fantastic campaigns from around the world is a great feeling. While we are extremely grateful for the recognition that our campaign has received so far at the Cannes Lions, we are hungry for more!”

Vineet Singh, VP – Brand and Creative Strategy, BYJU’S said, “It’s a proud milestone for us at BYJU’S. The ‘Master Ji’ campaign is a testament to BYJU'S belief in creating and driving meaningful messaging to connect with its audience. We are extremely grateful for everyone who supported us in achieving this dream run and kudos to our brilliant in-house team for ideating and executing the film so beautifully.”

BYJU’S bagged a Silver in Entertainment Lions under the Talent: Film, Series & Audio subcategory for its work titled ‘Master Ji’. Created by BYJU’S in-house team and produced by Dora Digs, the ‘Master Ji’ campaign paid tribute to teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day last year, for their untiring efforts to keep educating their students amid the challenging circumstances during the pandemic period.

DDB Mudra’s Silver was won for their work, titled ‘A Silent Frown’, in Industry Craft Lions under the Print & Publishing subcategory. Created for the Charlie Chaplin Museum Foundation, ‘A Silent Frown’ is a book dedicated to the life and philosophy of Charlie Chaplin. The book has been developed as a piece of art. Each page depicts Chaplin’s life in illustrations on a transparent section. When stacked by closing the book, the illustrations come together to form the visage of the great entertainer.
