Cast & Crew of Shershaah felicitated at the Himalayan film festival in Leh

Shershaah opened the film festival on September 24 which was a part of the celebrations of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' that commemorates 75 years of India's Independence.

The film festival is being organised by the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

Dignitaries from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the administration of UT Ladakh attended the festival alongside actors Sidharth Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Shiv Panditt and director Vishnu Vardhan.

After achieving high accolades from critics and fans worldwide and becoming the highest rated Hindi film on IMDb, Shershaah has truly left a mark in the industry. The film that intricately showcased the inspiring life and valorous charm of PVC Captain Vikram Batra, who was martyred while fighting for his nation in the treacherous terrains of Kargil. In honour of the brave war hero, who's story deeply moved everyone through the film, the cast and creators of Shershaah, were invited to Ladakh's first edition of 'The Himalayan Film Festival' (THFF).

The festival opened with the screening of the highly successful Amazon Original Movie at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra in Leh, which was attended by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, along with Shri Radha Krishna Mathur, Hon’ble Lt Governor, Ladakh, Advocate Tashi Gyason CEC, LAHDC Leh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Shri Umang Narula, Advisor to Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Smt. Padma Angmo, Secretary, Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh. The cast including lead actor Sidharth Malhotra along with Nikitin Dheer, Shiv Panditt and the director Vishnu Varadhan were felicitated for their contribution in bringing forth the heroics and the legacy before the world.

Sharing his thoughts on cinema providing a prominent platform to the culture of the country, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports said, “Movies like 'Shershaah' remind many generations of the valour of our soldiers who fought bravely in the wars. Such movies are a great contribution that will inspire generations to come"

Sharing his thoughts on receiving the felicitation, actor Sidharth Malhotra said, "It has been one of my greatest honour in life, to wear Captain Vikram Batra's uniform on screen. It is really exciting to see the kind of impact the film has made, in India and around the world. It is my great pleasure to be opening the first edition of The Himalayan Film Festival with Shershaah and imprint the legacy of our war hero on such a prestigious platform."

Adding further, director Vishnu Varadhan said, "I am very grateful to the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh for allowing us to showcase this incredibly inspiring story with utmost authenticity. Shershaah will always hold a special place in each of our hearts and I am honoured to present our film at the festival."

Streamed by audiences in over 4100 Indian towns and cities in 210 countries and territories, the war-drama is the most-watched film on the service currently. Jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, the film also stars Kiara Advani in the lead along with Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar, and Pawan Chopra in pivotal roles. Shershaah is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
