CATCH a new multi-media digital platform of Patrika Group

CATCH is a new multi-media digital platform that combines the solidity of traditional journalism with the creativity, innovation and responsiveness of the vibrant world of Internet. It is a vertical under the umbrella of esteemed Patrika Group.

It will deliver original content and high quality news-on-the-run for an engaged but busy young generation. Simultaneously, it will also create content for the deeper consumer of news.

India is at once overrun with ‘content’ yet more under reported than ever. Every day policies, events, ground realities that shape our lives go unnoticed, unchallenged, unquestioned, unexplained. CATCH will strive to fill that void. It will have a strong public interest focus. It will try to bat for social justice, plurality, equity, freedom of speech, rule of law, individual and constitutional rights.

But it will also be playful and varied.

CATCH will not just report surface facts but try to explain causes, impacts and chains of consequences. It will seek understanding and opinion: not just express one’s own. It will be angular and provocative and challenge settled notions. But also be a voice of reason, willing to take stands against the herd.

CATCH recognizes the world is a complex place and we want CATCH to reflect that complexity, in all its nuances. CATCH aims to be a meeting ground for readers who want insight and new conversations, a credible, contemporary place to understand what’s going on.

Shoma Chaudhury will steer the project as editor-in-chief, She shall be responsible for entire gamut of news & content of the portal.

"Catch will be about substance in short pills. In an age of niche sites, it will celebrate the mix. It is a big creative challenge to do substantive journalism in an age of speed news. How do you tell stories in a way that doesn't dumb it down, yet keeps the impatient reader with you? The internet has massive potential, it can be worked at different rhythms -- that is what makes the project so exciting," says Shoma Chaudhury. "I am happy it is part of the Rajasthan Patrika group, which is respected for its principled journalism."

Bharat Bhushan, founder-editor of Mail Today, has also joined the project as editor. "This is the medium of the future. I was keen to work with a new medium, where my experience as a journalist-editor would be useful, but I would have the excitement of learning something new myself".

Vinny Ganju- Chief Operating Officer Catchnews, reporting to the management and responsible for entire operation of catchnews including business. He said “With Catch News we are going to redefine how Journalism is perceived in today’s cacophonic news environment. We don’t intend to just broadcast content but trigger new conversations by challenging settled notions at a time when most media is dominated by sensationalism and run by affiliations.

Our plan is to create a unique platform which will collaborate traditional journalism with innovative content delivery experience that  is relevant, engaging and useful. With this approach we plan to reach most of the news consumers between on-the-run busy young generation and the evolved consumer of news.

The whole idea of creating something “new and innovative” is what got me excited especially when the intent is to intervene into the existing ecosystem.  Catch you soon!”
