Catch William Dalrymple and Swapan Dasgupta this week on ‘Off Centre’

The NDA government in 2014, ISIS attacks in Europe, Brexit, the Trump Presidency – India and the World has veered right. On Off Centre this week, Anuradha SenGupta talks to prominent writer and co-founder of the Jaipur Literature Festival William Dalrymple and senior journalist and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta to understand what impact it will have on writers and intellectuals.

William Dalrymple says that in Britain and America, even though there are left wing and right wing writers, the majority of them are towards the left, adding that in India, almost 95% of Indian writers are of the left wing who are now having an overwhelming feeling of anxiety and resistance. Swapan Dasgupta talks about the existing conservative right tradition and how conservative right wing thinking ceased evolving by sticking to the old principles and didn’t take into account the changes in the modern world.

Catch the full conversation on Off Centre this Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 9:30 PM & 12:30 PM, only on CNN-News18
