CNN’s Live Longer with Dr. Sanjay Gupta

This month CNN International launches ‘Live Longer’ hosted by multiple Emmy-award winning chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The eight-month long series focuses on the latest science, technology and research to reveal how to increase life expectancy.

Each segment will highlight a different aspect of our lives that impacts longevity – such as diet, exercise, mental health, genetics, and environment – all over the world. The latest health strategies will be examined as well as tips and tricks on ways to not only live longer, but live better longer.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta: “Medical advancements have been able to push back the frontiers of longevity like never before, but the quality of life within those added years is very much up to the individual. I wanted to learn and really understand what works and how to best apply it to our busy lives.”

In a special 30-minute launch episode this month, ‘Live Longer’ profiles busy executive Giuseppe Riva. The 47-year-old was born and raised in Italy but moved to the U.S. two decades ago. Since then he has noticed a decline in the quality of his diet, the frequency of his exercise, and the overall state of his health. Combined with a relentless international travel schedule, Giuseppe turns to Dr. Sanjay Gupta to help him make a change. Using a life expectancy calculator powered by data scientists at the University of Pennsylvania, Giuseppe learns how to not only improve the length of his life but also the quality of those years.

Following the 30-minute episode is the first monthly segment, where Dr. Sanjay Gupta meets 81-year-old Jeanne Daprano who still runs and wins competitive races. Daprano’s story is among eight profiles from global locations including Ireland, Hong Kong, and Sweden which will be rolled out throughout the year, before a final 30-minute show scheduled to air in February 2019.

Ellana Lee, Senior Vice President, CNN International: “We all know you can’t out-run the inevitability of the aging process. While research shows that diet and exercise are critical, perhaps what is most fascinating is that intangibles like social relationships can be just as important when it comes to longevity. CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta explores these angles through his brand new series which we are excited to share with our audiences worldwide.”
