Coca Cola extends experiential campaign for FIFA U-17 World Cup Trophy

In the lead up to the first-ever FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 to be hosted by India, Coca-Cola India after facilitating an extended Trophy Experience in Kolkata and Siliguri earlier, today delighted the football fans by enabling them to experience the Winner’s Trophy from close quarters across multiple locations in Mumbai.

The Trophy Experience was further extended to the Mumbai Moms who through contests and quizzes were encouraged to motivate their children to take up regular sport and kick-off the soccer moms phenomenon in India. However, the most heartening part of the trophy experience was to witness the players of Blind Football Team, at the National Association for the Blind (NAB) in Worli, to touch the trophy and cherish the feeling.

Expressing his joyous feelings, Mr. Satya Kumar Singh, Hon. Secretary General, NAB, India said, “These football players are true achievers. We are happy that Coca-Cola’s efforts offered them a chance to spend some precious moments with the Trophy when they were able to touch and feel it. The sheer joy and happiness that the team felt at being a part of something so historic, is truly inexplicable.”

Nishant Pandey, Country Director at American India Foundation (AIF), said, “"We believe that the FIFA U-17 World Cup Winner’s Trophy experience should be for everyone. Sports allows us to push our limits and enables us to go beyond what we feel we can attain. Our ability-based livelihood empowerment (ABLE) program works with people with disabilities to secure equal, inclusive livelihoods and a life of dignity. We are thankful to Coca-Cola and NAB for bringing the trophy to people who personify the positive ideals of football and sportsmanship.”

Javier Ceppi, Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 said, “Coca-Cola is a key partner within global football and for the development of the sport in India, which is primed to become the biggest in the country in the long run. Coca-Cola has been associated with us throughout this process and the company’s support is extremely important to achieve our goals.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ishteyaque Amjad, Vice-President, Public Affairs & Communications, Coca-Cola India and South-West Asia said, “We have been associated with football and other sports for a long time. It is a deeply fulfilling experience to have the resilient heroes of the visually-impaired football team touch and feel the FIFA U-17 World Cup Winner’s Trophy. Our company stands for positivity and inclusion and we feel privileged to extend the trophy experience to our special football heroes.”

After inspiring the football fans in Mumbai, the Trophy Experience is scheduled for the next destination, Goa on September 19th where it will be proudly displayed at the Goa Bottling Plant.
