Coca-Cola India partners with Delhi Tourism to celebrate the spirit of CWG!

Celebrating the spirit of XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, Coca-Cola India today announced its partnership with Delhi Tourism in jointly organizing one of the country's biggest ever cultural extravaganza ' "Delhi Celebrates". Over 5000 artists from the fields of music, theatre, films etc including the likes of Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy, Daler Mehndi, Kunal Ganjawala, Kailash Kher, Hariharan, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Vishwamohan Bhatt, Sujat Khan, Shivamani etc will be in Delhi to perform between October 1-14, 2010. The cultural festival includes film shows, youth festival, food festival and laser shows. During the fiesta, Coca-Cola India will undertake one of the largest ever free product sampling programs ever undertaken in its history to spread optimism and happiness amongst Delhiites.

This partnership was formalized last week through an agreement between Rina Ray, IAS, Managing Director, Delhi Tourism and Principal Secretary (Culture), Delhi Government and Akeel Mohammed, Vice-President, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited in the presence of Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Govt of NCT, Delhi. This cultural fiesta will showcase India's rich and diverse culture of music, dance, art, theatre and culinary expertise. An extensive campaign for "Delhi Celebrates" will activate seven cities of Delhi and attract Delhiites to the celebration of the commonwealth Games

Speaking at the occasion Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Govt of NCT, Delhi, said, "Commonwealth Games 2010 is one of the biggest sporting events to be organized in India. "Delhi Celebrates' is the perfect platform for us to showcase of our cultural history to more than 7,000 athletes and delegates and thousands of tourists from different parts of the world. I would like to urge the citizens of Delhi to come out and join the celebrations in support of the Commonwealth Games which symbolizes the triumph of sportsman spirit over everything else."

Announcing this partnership, Akeel Mohammed, Vice-President, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited, said, "As beverage partners of the Commonwealth, on one hand we have the opportunity to hydrate thousands of athletes, delegates and tourists at the Commonwealth Games and on the other, we now have this unique privilege to showcase our culture to visitors from across the world.
