Content will be great differentiator: Punit Goenka chalks out ZEE’s plans

Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd (ZEEL) unveiled its new brand ideology and purpose – ‘Extraordinary Together’ – yesterday (October 30, 2017) in Mumbai. With this, the media & entertainment conglomerate aims to provide a unified brand experience and to delight consumers across the world by creating extraordinary entertainment and experiences that inspire to transcend the ordinary and become extraordinary.

Elaborating on ZEE’s new corporate brand ideology, Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, ZEEL, said, “Our new brand ideology – ‘Extraordinary Together’ – is rooted in the philosophy that from collaboration comes strength to deliver the extraordinary. In a global company like ours with interests across diverse verticals and businesses, we believe that our ability to win lies in us being able to effectively come together and harness this strength to be extraordinary in the market.”

He noted that over time, ZEE has evolved from a television broadcaster into a media & entertainment conglomerate with businesses spanning across the spectrum, from broadcasting to music, movies, digital, live entertainment and theatre, providing an extraordinary range of entertainment to audiences around the world.

With this brand refresh, ZEE is now eyeing 3 billion viewers in the next six years. The company is currently present in over 173 countries and has a reach of more than 1.3 billion viewers globally.

Meanwhile, ZEE is gearing up to launch its digital entertainment platform – Z5 – which will consolidate its OTT platforms Ozee and Ditto. Z5’s content will have a mix of TV content as well as original content.

Goenka stressed that ZEE had always tried to create content that was unique and which resonated with the viewers. He added that content had to be the great differentiator. “If you don’t give the appropriate content to the audiences, they will definitely move to some other channel in search for content that satisfies them,” he cautioned.

ZEE’s content will span 11 regional languages, besides Hindi. Goenka also revealed that ZEE was planning to foray into the Malayalam market soon.
