Corporate Leaders Vie For Top Honors at the Forbes India Leadership Awards 2012

Forbes India, seen as the champion of entrepreneurial capitalism since their launch in 2009, announced the much awaited Forbes India Leadership Awards 2012 to be held in Mumbai tomorrow. Celebrating transformational leadership, this year Forbes India will honour outstanding leaders who’ve epitomized success in their fields and are the visionary champions in creating sustainable future.
 
The theme for the evening this year is ‘Seeing What Next’ - the one common feature that most leaders showcase. It’s their ability to see what’s coming ahead, react to it before everyone else that makes them the visionary. The Forbes India team has invited some of the leading business and thought leaders of the country to present their thoughts in precisely 3 minutes on “The one thing that will change everything for people in this room, except that they haven’t heard of it”. These speakers will then be rated real time by the audience on their thoughts and ideas. The list speakers for the evening include big names like Adil Zainulbhai - MD, McKinsey & Co India, Kumar Mangalam Birla – Chairman, Aditya Birla Group, N Chandrasekharan - CEO, TCS, Akhil Gupta - Chairman, Blackstone India, Karl Slym - MD and CEO Tata Motors, William Bissell - MD, Fabindia, Nitin Paranjpe - CEO & MD, Hindustan Unilever and Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice – Chairman, Cognizant.
 
The nominees this year have been chosen by an interesting lineup of distinguished jury panel that include Jury Chairman KV Kamath, Non-Executive Chairman, ICICI Bank & Chairman, Infosys; Dr. J.J Irani, Former Director, Tata Sons; Adil Zaniulbhai, Chairman, McKinsey India; Akhil Gupta, Chairman, Blackstone Advisors India; Zia Mody, Founder AZB Partners and Raghav Bahl, Founder & MD, Network 18 Group. These esteemed jury members along with knowledge partners KPMG, through a rigorous and exhaustive process, chose 5 nominees in each of the ten categories. The distinguished jury panel, chaired by KV Kamath selected the 10 outstanding winners from this list of 50 names.

A glance at categories shows that there is a considerable focus on entrepreneurism. The themes behind each award category reflect the editorial agenda of the magazine. A look at the nominees shows the depth of research undertaken by the magazine in partnership with its knowledge partner – KPMG. Some of the prominent names nominated include MD Mallya – Bank of Baroda, Aditya Puri – HDFC Bank, Swati Piramal – Piramal Enterprises, Rahul Bajaj – Bajaj Auto, among others. For the prestigious award for ‘Entrepreneur for the Year’ nominees include leading business personalities like Anand Mahindra – Mahindra & Mahindra, Ananljit Singh – Max India Group, Dilip Sanghvi – Sun Pharma, KM Birla – Aditya Birla Group & Uday Kotak – Kotak Mahindra Bank.

The presentation ceremony will conclude with a fireside chat between Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha foundation and KV Kamath, non executive chairman, ICICI Bank and chairman, Infosys, to explore some of the key challenges facing Indian business leaders over the next five years. They will delve into how business leaders prepare themselves and their organisations for this journey.
