Court rejects Partho Dasgupta's bail plea

A session court in Mumbai has rejected the bail plea of former Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Audience Research Council India Partho Dasgupta. Dasgupta was arrested in relation to the ongoing investigation into the TRP scam. The order was pronounced on January 20, 2021.

Mumbai Police arrested Dasgupta in the last week of December. He was in police custody till December 31 after which he was remanded to judicial custody. On 5 January, Dasgupta was shifted to JJ Hospital after his health deteriorated while he was in judicial custody. This is the second time that Dasgupta's plea has been rejected. Earlier on January 4th a Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai rejected his bail application.
