Covid-19 impact: FICCI Frames 2020 postponed

Mega annual summit for the M&E industry, FICCI Frames 2020, is the latest industry event to be impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus spread across the world. The organisers of FICCI Frames 2020 have decided to postpone the three-day event which was scheduled to be held between March 18 and 20 in Mumbai.

In a statement issued, FICCI said, “In view of the public health concerns and the recent advisory of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, which has strongly recommended to avoid mass gatherings, FICCI has decided to postpone FICCI FRAMES 2020.”

The statement further added, “While it is indeed a big disappointment for all of us at FICCI and the media community in India and the rest of the world, we have chosen to take this decision in the best interest of our participants.”

As is known, Italy was to be the partner country for FICCI Frames 2020. Outside of China, Italy is the worst affected by Coronavirus, with over 10,000 cases and 631 deaths as per the Worldometers website. Large areas of the country are under quarantine, as per news reports.

A high-level delegation from the Italian M&E industry, comprising filmmakers, writers, producers, animation studio heads, and film technology professionals was to have taken part in FICCI Frames 2020 to promote the Italian creative industry in India.

While no new dates for the event have been given, FICCI’s statement said, “We look forward to coming to you very shortly with the new dates for FICCI Frames.”
