CRED aims to provide 5 lakh meals to vulnerable children

You have used your CRED coins to earn rewards, get exclusive deals, tick your holiday gifts wishlist, and for many more exciting purchases. Now you have a chance to use your coins to provide meals for vulnerable children.

CRED, along with SOS Children's Villages of India, is kickstarting a campaign to serve500,000 meals to vulnerable children.

So how can you participate: simple, by donating your CRED coins. By donating 50,000 coins, a member can support feeding a child for a day. There is no cap on the number of times and the total coins that can be spent, as a member can donate multiple times between January 1- January 5, 2022.

The initiative will start with a Twitter campaign on 1st January and for every tweet with the hashtag #CREDTweetForGood meals for children will be provided.

Kunal Shah, Founder, CRED, said, “2021 was a tough year, more so for children from vulnerable sections of society. As a community, CRED members have come together once again to extend a helping hand. The #CREDTweetforGood initiative with SOS Children’s Village of India exemplifies our commitment to give back, and through this campaign, we aim to provide 5 lakh meals to vulnerable children.”

Sumanta Kar, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India said, “Health and nutrition serve as a crucial component in securing the wholesome development of children. It is, hence, vital to ensure a balanced and nutritious diet for growing children. The initiative with CRED aims to meet this important goal, and is an extension of a community effort to mitigate the challenges brought about by the pandemic.”

Last year, CRED’s initiative successfully contributed in securing three lakh masks for frontline workers during the first wave of the pandemic. In May 2021, members came together again to arrange one billion litres of oxygen for hospitals during the peak of the second wave. CRED also provided 1M+ meals to disadvantaged families through meal kits, which included 5,000 dry ration kits in August.

For the current initiative, the entire value of member contributions will go towards the cause. Administrative and other fees will be covered by CRED.

Start your New Year right, redeem your CRED coins, donate a meal to a child in need.
