All too often, we’ve looked up to our favourite sports idols and tried to emulate their stance, technique and style. They’re a crucial part of our childhood and we never tire of hearing more about them. CRED’s The Long Game series takes viewers closer to these very heroes as they share their tales, anecdotes, and invaluable lessons. And in the new episode, the legend himself - Sunil Gavaskar, a man full of grit and passion shares his significant memories and lessons on the occasion of his 73rd  birthday.

In this episode, the Little Master shares stories from his debut against the West Indies, his mighty double hundred (220) against them, playing through the pain, and banter in the dressing room, and what he learned from these moments that can still be applied to daily life.

Tune in to the episode here to watch Sunil Gavaskar talk about his journey, en route to becoming one of the greatest opening batsmen India’s ever seen, and how asking for a small “cap” from an uncle could change his life forever.

In Sunil Gavaskar’s own words, “To be able to stick around in the face of adversity is very important because that actually tells you the character that you have. Looking back on my career, temperament has been my strongest asset and that certainly has prepared me for the long game!”
