CRY partners with DLF Place Saket for #YellowFellow in New Delhi

This Children’s Day, CRY associated with DLF Place Saket to launch the national campaign #YellowFellow in the capital. To ensure a safe, happy and creative childhood for children in India, CRY – Child Rights and You – extended the campaign ‘Yellow Fellow’ to DLF place, where the shoppers and patrons with their families thronged the mall to become a part of the initiative and witness children’s performances.

The #YellowFellow campaign aimed to build public awareness for children and their right to a happy childhood, through a series of fun-filled yet meaningful engagement activities where people at large are encouraged to show their support for children by becoming Yellow Fellows.

CRY’s display at the mall, sparkling in its signature yellow color, drew considerable audience attention and appreciation over 5 days of celebrations that concluded on 18th November. There were flash mob and musical acts orchestrated by children who performed on their self-composed songs. On one of the days children presented three unique and interesting plays, each one a moving image of their lived experiences. They painted a vivid picture of the unsafe environment for children today—be it in school, public places and even in their own homes. “I’m not an opportunity, I’m your responsibility,” they put it evocatively towards the end of their performances. In two more equally poignant plays, the children depicted how they are subjected to corporal punishment in schools amid deplorable quality of educational systems.

The plays were interactive, and the opinions of the audience were sought frequently during the event who pledged to make this world a safe place for children through their individual efforts. many of them who think that stringent punishment will positively impact the child, not compassion

Along with this, the campaign also created a lot of buzz on social media. The people supported the campaign by wearing or using a pair of yellow socks in unique, creative and quirky ways, posted a photo of themselves on social media using the hashtag #YellowFellow and further tagged their friends to join the bandwagon of yellow fellows.

Speaking on this exclusive association, Mr. Muckth Dograa, Centre Head, DLF Place Saket shared, “We are immensely honoured and delighted to partner with CRY in New Delhi for the launch of their #YellowFellow national campaign. Through this initiative, we aim to build a meaningful platform where we can generate public awareness around child rights and help improve sensitivity in a collective and responsible manner.”

“While our campaign ‘Yellow Fellow’ is bright and cheerful, and asks of the young, responsible people of the nation to be aware of children’s rights and to stand up for them, the core idea that drives this movement is to better the situation of children; each of us has to understand and envisage ways to reverse the situation from burgeoning crimes against them to low standards in health and education,” said Soha Moitra, Regional Director North, CRY. “Children’s voices need to be heard in a world driven by adult decisions for them to be more impactful. We’re glad that DLF partnered with us to give our children a platform to speak their mind,” she added.
