Curtains down on Turner India’s kids’ channel Toonami from May 15

It is learnt that Toonami, the kids’ channel from Turner International India, will be wrapped up from May 15, 2018. The channel was launched in February 2015 and positioned as a home for high-octane animated action and superheroes. Turner also has two other kids’ channels in its portfolio – Cartoon Network and Pogo.

Toonami has also been shut down in the 14 Asia-Pacific countries, including Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Sri Lanka since last month. Turner has not disclosed the reason for shutting down the Toonami channel.

The channel is currently airing on both cable networks like Hathway, DEN Networks, Siti Network, as well as DTH services like Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV.

Featured action franchises include Justice League Unlimited, Dragon Ball Z, Batman, Superman, Transformers: Robots in Disguise and many more.

Incidentally, Toonami takes its name from the hit programming block on Cartoon Network in the US.
