Dabur awarded PHDCCI Good Corporate Citizen 2015 Award

India’s leading Natural Health & Personal Care Company Dabur India Ltd was today awarded the Good Corporate Citizen of the Year award by leading industry association PHDCCI for its outstanding contribution to Social development & Community services, Environmental impacts and Economics. Union Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Rajnath Singh presented the award to Dabur India Ltd Chairman of CSR Board Committee Dr Ajay Dua and Dabur India Ltd Head-CSR Mr. A Sudhakar.

 

The nearly 131-year-old Dabur India Ltd has been actively involved in community development initiatives since 1994. “At Dabur, our commitment to good governance, ethical conduct and social responsibility is core to our way of doing business, and is strongly aligned with our drive to create and increase value for all stakeholders. We define Community Development and CSR as conducting business in ways that provide social, environmental and economic benefits for the communities and geographies where we operate,” Mr. Sudhakar said.

“We believe that financial performance and social upliftment go hand in hand and can never be separated. Our business is committed not just towards profitable growth, but also towards leaving a deeper imprint on the society as a whole. All our actions are aimed towards this larger goal by introducing products that gives our consumers health & wellness; as also lend a helping hand to the community,” Mr. Sudhakar added.

Dabur's community outreach initiatives have been developed keeping in mind the specific needs of the communities where it operates. The company has been organising Health Camps in various villages across the country; running non-formal education centres for underprivileged children; operating livelihood training centres to empower rural women, besides building toilets in rural India to protect the dignity of women. "Through these and other initiatives, we look forward to continuing our investment in the communities we serve and to fulfilling our responsibilities as a responsible corporate citizen," he said.

Dabur India Ltd had recently announced its decision to adopt 5 villages in the state of Uttar Pradesh and make them ‘Open-Defecation Free’ within the current 2015-16 fiscal. Under this initiative, the company will ensure that all households in these 5 villages have toilets. Besides, the 20-odd schools in these villages would also get separate toilets blocks for boys and girls. In addition, the company has identified five other villages in Uttar Pradesh, besides 6 villages in Uttarakhand and 2 in Himachal Pradesh for construction of household toilets.
