Dainik Bhaskar Group markets register 10.3% growth in GST collection in Sept

GST Revenue collection for the month of September 2020 shows a sharp market recovery in India’s heartland comprising Tier 2 and 3 towns. As per data available, the All India GST collection for September 2020 stood at Rs 95,480 crore, as against Rs 91,916 crore in September 2019, accounting for a growth of 3.9 per cent YOY.

Compared to this, the Dainik Bhaskar Group Markets, however, registered a significantly higher growth of 10.3 per cent YOY – from Rs 19,918 crore in September 2019 to Rs 21,965 crore in September 2020, thus clearly indicating that the Dainik Bhaskar Group Markets are growing much faster than other markets and overall India markets.

The Dainik Bhaskar Group Markets include the states where the group has a strong presence in and includes – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Among these markets, Chhattisgarh registered the highest growth of 24 per cent YOY, but it was Gujarat that recorded the highest GST collection at Rs 6,090 crore.

The data further validates Ernst & Young’s recent report that Tier 2 and 3 towns of India will lead the Indian markets’ recovery in the post lockdown period.
