DAVP spends Rs 842.89 cr on advertising & publicity till February 2016

The Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity has spent Rs 842.89 crore for release of Government ads during the 2015-16 period till February 29, 2016. Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, provided this information in the Lok Sabha this week.

DAVP is the nodal agency that undertakes multi-media advertising and publicity for various Ministries and Departments of Government of India.

Of this Rs 842.89 crore, the largest spend was made on print media that amounted to Rs 402.79 crore. This was followed by electronic media which saw spends of Rs 353.31 crore. Electronic media includes television, FM radio, digital cinema, SMS and the Internet.

Spends on outdoor publicity amounted to Rs 66.83 crore, while Rs 12.13 crore was spent on print publicity. Exhibitions saw the lowest spends of Rs 7.83 crore.

Ministries and Departments of finance, health and family welfare, information and broadcasting, social justice and empowerment, consumer affairs and food and public distribution, home affairs, drinking water supply, tourism  and income tax were among the big spenders on advertising and publicity during 2015-16.
