DD film on climate change wins 1st prize at APAC Broadcasting Award

Climate Change is an issue which is affecting every aspect of human life from food, water, energy security, health and global economy.  It is manifesting in more unpredictable weather patterns and frequent and intensive natural hazards such as typhoons, sea level surges, flooding, landslides, drought and glacial lake outbursts. India is a major stake holder in the Paris declaration on climate change and IPCC.

A one hour documentary film on climate change directed by Anoop Khajuria, Asstt Director of Programme, Doordarshan attempted to tell the story of people in the western Himalayas who are being impacted by the climate change due to global warming.

India’s Public Service Broadcaster, Doordarshan has won coveted best Documentary Film Award in Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union TV Award competition held in Krabi, Thailand for its documentary film “Whispers of Warming” based on the theme of climate change in Ladakh division of western Himalayas.  It competed with 40 films from 20 countries across the world.

This Documentary was produced towards fulfilling Prasar Bharati’s mandate of Public Service Broadcasting.
