Delhi HC asks FB, Google & YouTube to take down video defaming Patanjali

At a recent judgement made by the Delhi High Court, Social media major Facebook and search Engine Google along with Youtube have been asked to pull down a Vlog, a Video Blog which allegedly mocked Patanjali Ayurveda’s consumer good, Atta.

Patanjali had filed a plea seeking court’s intervention and taking down of the offensive content made against both them and ITC’s consumer brand ‘Aashirvaad Atta’. The content was produced in Tamil Language mocking the product as ‘Rubber’.

The court released the interim order directing the internet platforms to disclose the identity of the person behind the disparaging content against Baba Ramdev led Patanjali Ayurved and also ordered for accesses restrictions of the vlog. The interim order was given by Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw and the matter has been prolonged for the next hearing on 15th May, 2018.

Speaking in favour of Patanjali Ayurveda, advocate Rajiv Nayar ordered the court that ITC already obtains an interim stay order against the blog from a Bengaluru court.
