Disney-Emami pact for co-branded merchandise

Come July 2010, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) will be widely available to larger parts of India as the Fast Moving Consumer Product major "Emami' has entered into a deal with DCP to manufacture and market a part of Disney's "Back to School' range of products.

Popular Disney characters like Hannah Montana', "Princess', "Cars', "Jungle Book', "Lion King' and "Finding Nemo' will now be visible on over 200 types of school bags, gym bags and swimming bags and these products will be offered to Indian kids through all retails stores and super markets.

As per media reports majority of these products will be made in China and its only a small portion which will be manufactured in India. Under this deal these products will be co-branded with Emami logo and will be sold through Disney's distributors. Disney is optimistic in making this deal a success and aiming to make these, a mass market product options.

Throughout the world Disney's full range of branded merchandise like apparel, toys, home décor, books, magazines, interactive games, stationery, electronics, fine art, foods and beverages follow the licensing agreement route. Countries like US, UK and Japan, Disney has exclusive Disney stores to retail these products.
