Dunzo Witnesses a 320% Surge in Medicines and Groceries

Dunzo, India’s go-to app for essentials and groceries, has witnessed firsthand the true potential of being an on-demand platform during a pandemic. In the last year, Dunzo has graduated from a convenience app to becoming an essential service for many. This shift has not only made an impact on the community but also on the business.

  • During the second wave and lockdown, Dunzo’s app opens are up 2x since Mar'21, as more users seek out the platform organically to order or deliver home-cooked meals, medical aid, and other essentials to their loved ones.

  • Since January 2021, Dunzo has witnessed a growth of 350% in medicine orders alone, while consumables like groceries, fresh produce, and daily staples have grown 318%  as of April 2021.

  • Between March’21 to May’21, Dunzo has delivered over 20,000 orders to hospitals. This, coupled with the delivery of home-cooked meals, oximeters, and other medical aid has led to an exponential growth of 204% in Dunzo’s pick up and drop orders.

  • Delivering millions of orders through its B2B logistics service, Dunzo’s B2B vertical has also grown 2x working with volunteers, NGOs, and other organizations, to deliver essentials to those affected in the community.

“At the heart of Dunzo’s operations lies our mission to make digital interactions with the offline world more convenient, safe, and seamless. With more micro-fulfillment centers in the pipeline, stronger supply chain management, we're moving closer to our goal of 15-min deliveries and gearing up to build a better, safer world of on-demand commerce and convenience for India,” says Kabeer Biswas, CEO & Co-Founder, Dunzo

As Dunzo strengthens its operations to ensure it’s able to deliver for everyone in the community, it's harnessing the power of micro-fulfillment centers (MFCs) to act on the urgency of demand. Deploying 250 micro-fulfillment centers to serve 700 plus neighborhoods, Dunzo’s MFCs will house the top 1,500 SKUs from local merchants which would enable a more consistent ordering experience as well as deliveries under 20 minutes. Through this model, Dunzo is building the largest online convenience platform in India powered by local neighborhoods and merchants, with plans of expanding operations to 20 cities by 2022.
