e-Bay India and Virat Kohli come together for a charity auction

eBay India and Save The Children India are coming together to set up a charity auction with cricketer Virat Kohli. The Charity Auction is live from May 6-16, 2014 and the auction will give the winner a chance to burn it out in a gym session with Virat Kohli. As part of the session, Cricketer Virat Kohli will work out with the highest bidder and provide valuable inputs on the fitness routine which needs to be followed to stay fit. The proceeds from this charity auction will be used to educate the less privileged differently-abled children supported by Save The Children India.

Dr Subhadra Anand, CEO, Save the Children India, says, “We are very excited about this partnership as Virat Kohli is loved by many children and it would make it very special for them to know that the money has been raised by the cricketer in his endeavor to provide to them a better tomorrow. We would like to extend our thanks to eBay India for providing us the opportunity to raise money for our cause. We are also thankful to Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment for assisting us with putting this auction together.”

Commenting on this auction, Cricketer Virat Kohli says, “Education plays a vital role in every child’s development but unfortunately many children in our country do not have access to it. Moreover, a vast number of children in our nation are deprived of basic health care facilities. To combat these two important issues in our society, Save The Children India carries out various philanthropic programs and activities and I feel extremely honored to have been presented with this opportunity to contribute my little bit to Save The Children India. I encourage all my fans to participate in this auction and help raise funds to support the cause of education and health care for the lesser privileged children. I promise a very special day for the winner of this auction.”

Commenting on the occasion, Deepa Thomas, eCommerce Evangelist, eBay India says, “As an ongoing endeavor of eBay India for Charity, we are delighted to support Save The Children India in their efforts to envision India as a child-friendly nation. The exclusive charity auction of the gym experience with Virat Kohli will help support the noble cause with awareness & funds.”

“This NGO is really close to my heart as my mother Mrs. Vipula Kadri is the founder of Save the Children India. We are striving to carry on her legacy in the field of social development in India, and appreciate the support that we have been fortunate enough to receive. The wonderful people who support us don't just donate, they help us change lives, and we thank Virat for the wonderful gesture that he has made for Save The Children India ."  said Mrs Mana Shetty, Trustee, Save The Children India
