Engaging material that is presented well wins over audiences: Cast of Dude

The second season of the Hindi-language criminal web series, ‘Dude’ debuted on the Amazon Mini TV OTT platform on September 20, 2022. The protagonist of the web series is a detective who is trying to solve a puzzling case. Ambrish Verma, Amit Bhadana, Arun Kushwah, Apoorva Arora, Rakesh Bedi, and Shibani Bedi play crucial roles in ‘Dude’.

In an exclusive conversation with Adgully, Ambrish Verma and Apoorva Arora speak about the characters they have played in ‘Dude Season 2’ and how they prepared for respective roles, trends that are dominating the OTT industry, some interesting behind the scene moments, and more.

Why did you find ‘Dude’ a story worth telling on the screen?

Ambrish Verma: In Season 1, there were a lot of unresolved moments and unfinished parts. Fortunately, Season 2 has all the solutions.

What kind of preparation did you do for your character and how did you relate to your real life?

Apoorva Arora: The preparation was different from how it had been for my prior characters since, typically, actors are trained to be open, to let go of inhibitions, to be flexible, and other such things. But with Ritu (Apporva’s character in the series), I had to unlearn everything. To do this, I needed to maintain my composure mentally and physically, while being expressive. I can identify with some of the things Ritu does, such as the fact that she is not a people-pleaser and is not a pick-me-up type of lady.

Ambrish Verma: It is difficult to relate to this individual on a personal level due to the fact that he thinks and responds differently. When discussing preparation, you must imbibe the emotion because you must defend it on camera. Season 1 was already present when I started writing it, and I was familiar with its size, so moving about was simple.

Could you share some interesting behind the scene moments?

Ambrish Verma: On a lighter note, there was a romantic scene in which Apoorva was describing her real-life love interest, Diljit Dosanjh. Therefore, it can be difficult when your on-screen love interest discusses other real-life issues!

Apoorva Arora: The fun really started when we got together as friends after first meeting as co-actors. He used to help me with a lot of stuff, and we used to make sure that our vanity doors were open so that we could have wonderful gossip sessions. So, yes, we used to enjoy ourselves a lot.

What kind of content trends do you see currently dominating the industry?

Ambrish Verma: There are many things and options available. I believe that engaging material that is presented well wins over audiences. There are no genre restrictions, but your work must be extraordinary. ‘Squid Games’, for instance, didn’t live up to any genre, but nevertheless managed to stand out.

What are your upcoming projects?

Apoorva Arora: Since I am bound, I can’t really announce anything, but I did a lot of work last year, so I have a lot of shows and movies planned. I’m incredibly appreciative of the chance to do tests and appreciate my characters.
